Tried and Tested Review – Dublin Elite Gel Full Seat Breeches
I like to be quite traditional and don’t usually follow the latest trends with my competition gear however, as I have only ever worn full suede breeches, I was intrigued about the craze of the gel breeches that the nation seems to be wearing at the moment. I thought I would give the Dublin Elite Gel Full Seat Breeches in Sand a try. I have a young, green horse which I am currently Eventing so these breeches were tested in each discipline. I am pleased to report that after competing in these breeches, I am most definitely a convert to the Gel Seat!
The breeches provide great stickability (as proved when my mare Sky performed unscheduled acrobatics in the Dressage and has an occasional over exuberant jump in both Showjumping and Cross Country) whilst still being flexible enough to allow for the movement of the rider.
My first event in these breeches was a rather hot day (around 28°C) and these breeches kept me cool throughout the whole event due to the great breathability of the fabric. The second event, I experienced a significant change in both temperature and weather! The breeches had maintained their stickability in the rain and the material didn’t hold water like other brands I have worn to compete in.
Being 5ft3, I usually struggle to find breeches that fit me well, they usually come up too long in the leg or too loose around the waist. I was very impressed with the fit of these breeches, the stretchiness of the material allowed me to have maximum range of movement especially on the Cross Country course. I must say, these breeches wash up very well considering there was a lot of mud on them from the last event!
